Born on 6/26/1943. Dennis was the Art Teacher for the New Prague High School for over 34 years. He is a community advocate for the New Prague Area Historical Society. Dennis loves and enjoys time with his wife and 3 children, 2 married with 2 grandkids (but he misses two of his brave children that have moved to Portugal!). His gardens are artwork in themselves, and he still serves the community tirelessly, including helping with the Towering to Out Future Project from the start! He is instrumental in getting the sculpture moved to the New Prague Library. He tells of his bronze plaque:
– The artist’s Palette represents my career teaching art. Symbols: left to right
– The sun symbol represents the “new day” in my life when I arrived in New Prague to teach art.
– The next figural symbol represents my marriage to Linda with two interlocking rings/wedding bands…56 years on Saturday!
– The next symbol represents my role as a father while holding my three children close.
– The spiral symbol, at the bottom, represents the cycle of life as a never-ending path.
– The next symbol represents Michelangelo’s quote, “The eye is the window of the soul.” My credo when teaching art.
– The last symbol represents my love and connection to nature.
